scholarly historians, in their documentations and studies, among them noticed many fabrications therein. Shaykh Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory, as an Arabic prolific writer, great Yoruba Mslim historian and literary critic, propounded a new theory which he derived from the Islamic historiography in writing the history of Yoruba and others. This theory does not give room for mythologies from unreasonable beautification of the events, as such will not conform to plausibility of human philosophy, let alone the scriptural facts. The major objective of this study was to present Al-Ilory’s views on the said history of Yoruba who have wider clans in Nigeria and continue to extend to different countries, therefore, analytical method was used for this study. It is therefore recommended that the historical criticism propounded by Al-Ilory be adopted in the historical studies for retaining the viability of history documentation for the incoming generations.
