Abstract
The long held belief was that the heart‟s function was only to pump
blood into the vessels of the body. However, if we ponder on the verses of
the Qura'n that are about the heart and the comments of the prominent
scholars of Islam about those verses; and the modern science about a Heart,
we conclude that the hearth participates and works hand in hand with the
mind in the thought and the intellectual reasoning. The research is
concerned to demonstrate the role of the heart in the human body by
highlighting the verses of the Qura'n that are about the heart, and its relation
with the mind, and then the heart in the modern science. The inductive and
analytical approaches were used as tools in our paper. The research has
reached the statement that the heart is contributing to the intellectual side
together with the mind, whereas the emotional aspect is only attributed to
the heart. The researcher also found out that the mind dwells in the heart
rather than in the brain but it is attached to the brain.
